Terms and payment
These apply to every quotation we issue. They are short on purpose, and we would rather you read them before accepting than after.
Our terms
Quotations are valid for 30 days from the date of issue.
A deposit of 25 per cent is payable on acceptance, invoiced before materials are ordered.
Jobs over GBP 15,000 are valued monthly, with interim invoices.
The balance is due 14 days from the completion invoice.
Quoted material prices are held for 30 days. Increases above 5 per cent are passed on with written notice before the materials are ordered.
Any change to the agreed scope is priced and agreed in writing before that work proceeds.
Workmanship is warranted for 12 months. Manufacturer warranties are passed through.
Building warrant, planning and factor fees are excluded unless the quotation states otherwise.
Working hours are 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Saturday work is by arrangement.
Waste removal and making good are included unless the quotation states otherwise.
Parking permits in controlled zones are arranged by the customer.
Deposits are non-refundable once materials have been ordered.
On deposits
The deposit covers materials, which we order and pay for before anyone starts. Once an order is placed it cannot usually be returned, particularly for anything made to size, which is why term 12 says what it says.
If you are not ready to commit, tell us and we will hold the quotation instead. There is no charge for that and no pressure attached to it.
On variations
Term 6 exists to protect you more than us. On older properties things do turn up once a floor comes off or a wall opens up. When that happens we stop, price the change and put it in writing, and you decide before we carry on.
It is slower than pressing ahead and settling up later. It is also the only way you end up with a final invoice that matches what you agreed to.
On warrants and fees
Building warrant, planning and factor fees are payable to the council or the factor, not to us, so we exclude them from our quotations unless we have said otherwise in writing. We handle the applications and the inspections as part of the job.
